If a memorial is to be placed in a churchyard, then there are some rules that apply. Before a memorial can be placed in a churchyard, permission must be sought from the incumbent, this is something we do for you as part of our service.

General Church of England rules state that marble, black and red granite are not permitted, however sandstone, limestone, light and dark granites are allowed although the rules specify that the surface must be non-reflective. Some churchyards have their own local rules, our experienced staff can guide you.  Shaped memorials such as books, hearts, angels etc are not permitted. Kerb sets are no longer allowed, any that are already in the churchyard would have been placed before the Diocese rules changed in 2016.
